Idenil, it's time to pick bones...

"If you actually think that a woman potentially taking care of a child that is not hers is in any way a bad thing, then you've been living on the Upper West Side too long..."
===============================================================
I must say that I find your reference to those living on the Upper West side (presumably in Manhattan) as some kind of super liberal who doesn't give a crap about taking care of kids OR "severely handicapped" children, then you might be the one who needs a reality check. Your obvious bias in all things New York OR "Liberal" seems to be a bit shaky at the moment not to mention incredibly insulting.
Now I didn't hear this specific program so I do know what was actually said, but I'm willing guess that I know the gist of it all. My hunch is that they were discussing the hypocrisy of a staunch opponent to abortion, sex ed and contraception who focuses strictly on Abstinence having a SECRET pregnant teenager. It's the hypocrisy of it all that drives most people to decry this type of action. Is that the only thing that is wrong with Sarah Palin's candidacy? Heck no, but it is PART of the overall puzzle.
Governor Palin's candidacy has many weaknesses; specifically her lack of any kind of appropriate experience to run the worlds most prominent country coupled with an extremely Right wing belief system thus leading many to question her judgment in such a tenuous time. And please spare us the she has more executive experience than Barack. That OLD spin from the GOP talking points is tired already and it's just been 2 days in the making! The idea that she has Foreign Policy experience because her state is close to Russia just doesn't even get out the basement. There is so much more, but space is limited and I am old and tired.
So is she a formidable candidate? Absolutely, but for many reasons not even being discussed. The GOP are planning to call SEXISM at first blush and they may not even wait that long. This entire debate is going to be interesting and her inclusion onto the ticket will end up being either the singularly best thing the Republicans have done (to get ELECTED) or the worst VP decision in history (I'm voting for worst). However, only time will answer that question...
