Religious extremism OK if it's Christian

This is the kind of crap millions of people see every morning. Personally, some of us do have a problem with extremist views like speaking in tongues, exorcisms and healings.

Ask Iraqi Chritians what they think of the new free Iraq

It doesn't matter if it's Christian. Republican leaders tell their followers that this policy or that policy is from God. Look at Sarah Palin saying Iraq is "God's plan".

These people have no morals or values. Pushing religion for their own political agendas. They are low. But to millions of Americans they are heroes, why? Because Republican followers can't believe that these people would put their immortal "souls" in jeopardy using God to push a political agenda.

Remember, half of America is "below average". These are the people that would feel "safe" with a "soccer mom" as president. The kind of person who feel we would be best served with a former POW making decisions even if he is untrustworthy, adulterous, has 30 years of Senate scandal and, according to everyone who has worked with him, unbalanced.

John McCain says we are winning in Iraq. Half to two thirds of the Christian population of 1.4 million that used to live in Iraq are now beggars in other countries, or dead or forced to convert to Islam. Islam is the “national religion” in Iraq. We are spending 10 to 12 billion dollars a month to prop up a government that hates us and will always hate us.

Our media won’t report on the truth in Iraq. They sell more papers printing Sarah Palin’s “moose burger” recipes than telling the truth about Iraq.

More and more I suspect Obama won’t win. He’s smart. As one conventioneer said, “He uses too many big words. I can’t follow along”.

She would have galvanized the Republican party even more than a "black" candidate. She ran a poor campaign without coherant strategy, which shows that she probably wouldn't have been a very good president.

I know to her supporters, it's a bitter pill to swallow, but it's true.

Right now, in this country, the Republicans have learned how to use religion as a weapon against the least educated, getting them to vote again and again against their own self interest. They rant about the liberal media, but they actually control it.

The liberal media is 78% negative against Obama and refuses to print anything approaching the truth about McCain and Palin.

Change will come only when Americans become so desparate they actually start investigating their candidates.

Hillary would have beat McCain easily

as the polls showed. Most Dems knew this and that is why she got more votes in the primary. If you think that Hillary would galvanize racist Republicans more than a black man, you are an idiot. Seriously - ignoring the huff for a moment. There was a poll done that showed the sexism runs deeper than racism. If one were to argue on those merits then it is clear that Hillary had less of a chance. The poll showed it. I posted it back when it came out.

Now I don't use that as a measure of who I support. If I were a Hillary supporter I would be pissed if someone told me that based on that study we shouldn't nominate her. but it is a sad truth that hopefully will go away with a little more time.

I only bring it up to counter huff's ridiculous racism spin.

The finding, in a survey commissioned by the Pew Research Center, may help to explain why Hillary Clinton isn't making an acceptance speech this week and why acceptance of women as leaders in politics and business has been slow.
Among men and women whom Pew surveyed, a large majority — 69 percent — thought that men and women made equally strong leaders. But only 6 percent said women made better leaders while 21 percent said men did. Men and women held those views almost equally.

"You've got a public that on some level has a complex mix of views on this subject: admiring of women, admiring of traits that they associate with leadership, (but) not yet admiring of women in top leadership roles," said Paul Taylor, the lead author of the report and the executive vice president at the research center.

He said the researchers hadn't "cracked the code" for the contradictory findings.

She is VP not P candidate.

I used to be religious. I sat in a church group that openly spoke about woman not being in the highest office of anything - work, political office you name it. They compared the man-woman relationship to god-man. The man is always above. They were happy that their missionaries had convinced some Indian tribe in NY state to stop electing female tribe leaders. I didn't know what "born again" or evangelical meant at the time. I just thought these were nice people. Then I heard this and a bunch of other deranged ideas and I got the hell out of there.

So you cannot compare Palin's VP pick to Hilary's potential nomination. They are not the same in the eyes of bible thumpers who don't understand their own religion.

Christian Fundamentalism (extremism) is still a relatively new phenomenon in our political system. Fundamental, meaning, they believe every literal word in the Bible as though it were written yesterday; as though Jesus spoke English. I laughed my ass off a few years ago when I saw Pat Robertson was trying to raise money for a mission to the Philippians explaining on TV that they never heard the word of God. Apparently, Catholicism doesn't count. It's easy to evangelize salvation when the fearful believe damnation is around the corner.
