I'm calling it...

Lucy Carrigan
the last day of suffering ... and I'm not just talking about my feet.
A guy passes by our position on radio row, lugging a trolley stacked with boxes filled with copies of a book with the very original title, "The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values," written by another guy called Brad O'Leary. It is going great guns. Several well-heeled individuals pass by our table with the book tucked comfortably under their arms. A young 'un comes running up to me, frantic, looking for the person who was giving out these books because he missed him, and wants to get a copy.
"Did you see him, did you see him," he asks me.
I tell him he went that away pointing to the main entrance of the Xcel Center, and that he might as well take one of the four copies that is stacked up over on the Fox Radio booth right smack dap across from Air America.
"Do you think they'll mind," he asks nervously. "No, not at all," I said. "They won't mind at all."
Disseminating false information is nothing new to them.

Somebody ask Barry Obama to
Somebody ask Barry Obama to name the 57 states he talks about. 57 fucking states? What a moron. And this is the man-child that aspires to be president after succeeding as a community advisor. What DOES it take to qualify for "community advisor"?

By bebeholmesSeptember 5, 2008 - 1:42pmHe made that mistake because
He made that mistake because he was very, very tired. You've never made a mistake when you're tired? Later he laughed about it because it was just that, a dumb mistake made in a moment of fatigue.
The new talking point is to make fun of community organizers. Sorry, neocon, you are making fun of those thousand points of lights, of those compassionate people praised by the Bushes, who have gone out of their way to help their communities. That includes church people. Someone has to organize these things for them to work.
But perhaps someone discovered that only liberals work to help their communities, and only liberals donate time to organize these things, so it's okay to make fun of them?

By deanrddSeptember 5, 2008 - 2:43pmWhat does it take
The main thing is a dedication to the community and a willingness to work for nothing or next to nothing to make your community a better place. I think it's funny that the day after the repub's convention theme was service, they started demonizing the term community organizer.

By gt6September 5, 2008 - 3:23pmActually 58...
The United States of America is comprised of more than just her fifty states. The US also owns territories in trust, most of which are islands scattered about the Pacific Ocean. 58 actually but 57 is the main number referred to when it comes to TRUST Territories. All of the following had Dem Primaries.
50 States
D.C.
Protectorates:
USVI
Guam
U.S. Samoa
Puerto Rico
Trust Territories:
Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI)
Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)
Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)
BTW: That's President Barry to you :-)

By bebeholmesSeptember 8, 2008 - 7:18amBig deal
he meant "contests" but he slipped and said states. It's not like he doesn't know the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni or that Czechoslavakia hasn't existed for a decade.

By bebeholmesSeptember 8, 2008 - 7:19amre:someone ask..
Ask Vonnegut said (albeit roughly) swearing gives people a reason to tune you out..perhaps the reason I'm the only one responding to this...
Further..people in glass houses should not throw stones:
1. Yes he slipped up..you try traveling multiple time zones in short periods of time and criss crossing the country on no sleep...slip up happens...this is why i'm not going to jump on your misuse of "community advisor" when Obama was a community ORGANIZER
That said...if we want to jump on mistakes...I'm a little less concerned with a slip up of 57 than McCain mentioning Czechoslovakia and our setting up a missile defense system in a country that hasn't existed for almost ten years...
So if we want to nit pick about a number slip up (and obvious error) or an amazing example of how out of touch with real world politics McCain is (as this is not the first time he slipped up on what one can only presume he meant as the Czech Republic...see also campaign 2004) and how willing he'd be to send military forces/equipment/funds to places he doesn't even know about...that my friend, is far scarier than a slip of the tongue...

By justintymeSeptember 5, 2008 - 3:40pmThe only way for the fascists to win
is by tearing down their opposition. They can't offer any kind of vision or plan for this country. Look at the GOP's platform: war, more taxes on the middle class so the rich can make more money, war, evironmental degredation, war, send more American jobs overseas, war, make workers powerless to defend themselves, and more war.
How in the fuck are you going to sell that to the American people? By not mentioning issues and making the other guy look as bad as you so the people vote on stupid shit, not their interests.
Republican- the American version of fascist.
